Strategic Advisory Board
The Braemar Energy Ventures Strategic Advisory Board is comprised of individuals with a distinguished history in various facets of the energy and technology industries, and have worked previously in diverse capacities with the principals. In addition to providing ongoing counsel about emerging economic issues, technologies and markets, the board takes an active role in developing new investment opportunities and maximizing the return on the company's current holdings.
- Dr. Mohammad Al-Ramadhan
- Dr. Mohammad Al-Ramadhan is the president of KPC Ventures, the technology investment arm of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Kuwait’s national oil company. He also holds the position of deputy manager for health, safety and environment and is acting deputy manager for research and technology at KPC. Before joining KPC in 1997, Dr. Al-Ramadhan was the director of the engineering division at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. Dr. Al-Ramadhan has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.A. and M.A. from Syracuse University.
- John V. Anderson
- John V. Anderson is head of the Energy Practice at Rocky Mountain Institute. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at the National Energy Renewable Laboratory, where he directed research and development activities in solar energy, geothermal energy and advanced material processes. In addition, he served as a program manager for several Department of Energy programs. Mr. Anderson holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
- The Rt. Honorable Tim Eggar
- The Rt. Honorable Tim Eggar was a UK government minister under Prime Ministers Thatcher and Major with responsibility for a number of departments, including serving as energy minister from 1992–1996. He was a member of Parliament for 18 years. He has also had a distinguished career in the energy business as a former CEO of Monument Oil and Gas PLC and chairman of AGIP UK. Mr. Eggar is a graduate of Magdalene College, Cambridge and the College of Law.
- David Fitzsimmons
- David Fitzsimmons had a long and extensive career in senior management at BP. Mr. Fitzsimmons was CEO of BP's international oil trading business, president of BP Asia and commercial director responsible for BP's gas, power and renewable business. Mr. Fitzsimmons is a graduate of Cambridge University and the Stanford Business School.
- Robert Gillham
- Robert Gillham recently retired as a managing director and head of the Global Power and Environmental Group at Chase Securities. He is widely regarded as a leading banker to the utility industries and has also been a spokesman for the banking industry, testifying before various state and federal regulatory bodies and Congressional committees. Prior to Chase, he was a founder of Chemical Bank's Utility Group, having joined the bank in 1966. Mr. Gillham has a B.A. from Harvard University.
- Eugene R. McGrath
- Eugene R. McGrath recently retired as chairman and CEOof Con Edison, a position he held from 1997. Mr. McGrath joined Con Edison in 1963, following his graduation from Manhattan College where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. He has an M.B.A. from Iona College and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Mr. McGrath remains a director of Con Edison and is on several other corporate and non-profit boards including Schering-Plough, Barnard College and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
- Dr. Dennis Schiffel
- Dr. Dennis Schiffel is a retired senior executive with extensive experience in finance, planning, investor relations, treasury, operations analysis and competitive strategy for both electric and utility companies, oil, gas and alternative energy. Most recently, Dennis was with Sierra Pacific Resources, as a senior vice president and CFO. Prior to Sierra, he was vice president, Corporate Planning and Investor Relations, at Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO); where he developed new strategy for ARCO, endorsed by the Board of Directors, including sale of assets (notably, sale of coal and chemical divisions). Earlier in his career, Dennis was with the National Science Foundation, Battelle Memorial Institute, and the Solar Energy Research Institute (now called the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.) Mr. Schiffel holds BSc, M.B.A., M.A., Ph.D., and J.D. degrees, in economics, finance and law.
- Bruce Wrobel
- Bruce Wrobel is the chief executive officer of Sithe Energies, a merchant power company based in New York. He is also the president and CEO of GAPCO, an aluminum and electric power development company in the Republic of Guinea. Prior to Sithe, he was a co-founder of Mitex, an independent power company sold to Sithe Energies in 1986.
